General Eligibility criteria for Ph. D. and M .Phil
A candidate for admission to the degree of p. HD & M .Phil in any of the faculties must have obtained the master’s degree with first class or at least 55% marks,at post-graduate examination and second division at the degree examination of the University or of another University recognized as equivalent thereto for General Category and 50% in UG and PG for SC/ST candidates.
Duration of the PH.D and M.PHIL Program
A candidate will be allowed to submit his PH.D thesis only after 2 years from the date of registration as notified by the university for the full time candidates. A candidate will be allowed to submit his PH.D thesis only after 3 years from the date of registration as notified by the university for the part time candidates. This period may be reduced to 18 months if the candidate has a M Phil degree from any University. Duration for the M .Phil program is for year.
Entrance Examination
The University conducts an Entrance Examination for all eligible candidates. However, the School /Centre /Institute/Unit concerned will look into applications received for the Ph .D & M .Phil and the School/Center/institute/Unit will decide about conducting or giving effect to any other criteria (duly approved by the vice chancellor ) for selecting Ph .D & M .Phil candidates out of the applications they receive.
